I have had a long absence from my blog and I want you to know it has been unintentional. Almost 80 years of wear and tear on my neck caused serious disability of my hands and fingers which finally made it almost impossible to type. I am currently recovering from surgery on my neck to free the pinched nerves which ran to my hands. Recovery has been slow and laborious with lots of physical therapy. And while I am not…..
The morning of April 21st 2019 perhaps as many as 2 billion people who profess Christianity will rise early to attend sunrise services to begin their annual Easter celebration. They will do this in spite of the fact that there is no Biblical example of Jesus or his early Church ever celebrating the Easter Holiday. Nowhere in the New Testament of the Bible is there a command or an example of this practice to follow. Where then did this practice…..
Jesus when speaking to the multitudes always spoke in parables or riddles to make it impossible for those listening to understand what he meant. This was explained in detail in chapter 2 of “Do You Believe Jesus”. He most definitely wanted all to hear his message, but only those his father had called to understand. To those he later explained the meaning of his riddles. The 25th chapter of Matthew begins with one of these parables and it has the…..
Dissonance is defined, in part, as: a lack of agreement between truth and what people want to believe-; inconsistency between the beliefs one holds…; the dissonance between what we are told and what we see with our own eyes. —Merriam Webster Readers tell me the inconsistencies between ones beliefs and the truths exposed in the pages of “Do You Believe Jesus” often precipitate aversive feelings which they describe as cold, difficult, or condemning. Psychologists define these feelings as cognitive dissonance……
Martin Luther King Jr. is most noted as a civil rights leader and activist. He was also a Baptist Minister with a seminary education. Consider the Following concerning Christmas In a recent article Bob Thiel pointed to the many reasons for not celebrating the pagan Christmas holiday. I have listed all of his points below and included the scriptures he refers to. Many who claim Christianity celebrate December 25th as the date of Jesus’ birth. Yet, many do not understand the biblical or historical truth about it. Remember, Jesus is the Lord of the Old Testament. In the beginning was the Word, and the…..
Every year around this time we hear pleas to put Christ back into Christmas. I know that these pleas are well meaning but the simple fact is, Christ was never in or a part of Christmas. Christmas does not come from the Bible! The Bible does not record a date for the birth of Jesus and celebrating birthdays was considered a pagan practice to Jesus and his followers. There are only three birthdays mentioned in all the bible and on…..
Informed Bible scholars and prophecy watchers are finding little in the American media to alert them to prophesized events, signaling the time of the end or tribulation. The local media is being richly rewarded for its constant criticism of President Trump and his aggressive approach to governing while ignoring, for the most part, important happenings around the world. As prophecy watchers we are forced to seek news from other sources around the world. In an opinion piece in the Irish…..
I devoted conciderable space in Chapter 4 of “Do You Believe Jesus” to the apostate church sytem as revealed to John and documented in the 17th and 18th chapter of Revelation. The following is a recent article from Church of God News that highlights this subject. In late October, aspects of Revelation 17 should have became clearer as the Greco-Roman churches ended up militaristic On October 28, 312 there was a battle at the Milvian Bridge between Constantine (a follower…..
Yesterday I attended the funeral of a friend. This man was a deacon of the Missionary Baptist Church he attended and brother of the pastor. He was well known and respected in the community where he lived and as a result his funeral was well attended. Several pastors from community churches spoke at this occasion. Without exception all of them described the deceased as being in heaven with God. I am sure all but my wife and I accepted this…..
